Annotation: Описано участь великого українського поета і художника Тараса Шевченка (1814-1861) у Аральській описовій та Каратауській (геологічній) експедиціях. Вперше означено методи й прилади астрономічних спостережень і топографічних знімань, які застосовувались в Аральській експедиції. Відзначено контакти поета з астрономами і геодезистами. Зроблено спробу по-новому інтерпретувати деякі його акварелі та малюнки і виявити вплив на його творчість астрономічних та геодезичних знань.
Described the participation of the great Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko (1814- 1861) in the Aral geographic and Karatau (geological) expeditions. First is defined methods and instruments of astronomical observation and topographical mapping that were used in the Aral expedition. Noted poet contacts with astronomers and surveyors. An attempt is made in a new way to interpret some of his watercolors and drawings and identify the impact of his work on astronomical and geodetic knowledge.
