000195958 5203_ $$aNowadays everything is smart – smart phones, smart benches, smart watches, smart bin, smart parking lot, and smart applications and in Prague we have smart trash cans. In fact, if anything does not have the epithet of "smart" it's seen as outdated and obsolete. The word "smart" becomes a magic formula for most journalist and politicians at all levels. But only few of us realize that geospatial information is hidden behind the "cleverness" of most "smart" things. “Smart” garbage container is becoming really smart only in the case, when information how full it is, together with its geospatial coordinates, are source data for calculations (update) of household refuse collection routes (otherwise it's just a garbage can, that just knows how full or empty it is). Similarly, empty/full smart parking spaces and their GPS locations must be linked to the more complex GIS system that can control the navigation and information traffic signs, or even traffic lights. But it already requires a clear conception of the city or town development, large infrastructure, common understanding and clearly setup cooperation between municipality, citizens and interested companies. Unfortunately for most politicians it takes entire electoral period to understand the term "Smart City" and recognize that real smart city can't be made within two years. Our project goal is to design and test a simple and user-friendly platform that integrates data from a wide range of sensors, producing a large amount of geo-coding data, platform that enables highly efficient collection of up-to-date and detailed information and will greatly facilitated the real application of the Smart City concept. The project is financed by Czech Ministry of Trade and Industry, within TRIO framework. The main implementer of the project is the Technological Centre in city Písek and contributor is Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography and Cartography located in Zdiby. Their cooperation ensures that all sensor components will work on a unified geographic framework with a flexible portfolio of cloud, data, sensor and communication technologies. Project outputs will be uniform information interfaces for a wide range of applications and their simple customization according to the different needs of various citizen target groups. Some interesting project outputs and non-traditional solutions of problems we were faced in the project will be shown in the presentation.
