Z toho důvodu byl proveden společný výzkum Univerzity Bundeswehru Mnichov a Univerzity Concepción (Chile) do jaké míry může být realizován pilotní katastr v Los Ángeles (Chile). V chilských podmínkách je realizace katstru podle německého právního vzoru nemožná. Jsou však k dispozici digitální údaje z GIS, která mohou být podkladem pro katastr. Jejich spolehlivost a přesnost však musí být zvýšena.
