Problémy matematické fyziky při studiu gravitačního pole a tvaru Země

Annotation:
The introduction starts with historical comments on the first attempts to determine the shape and size of the Earth. The interest of old Greeks in these questions is mentioned, including their thoughts and results. In the historical development then thebirth of geodesy is laid to France. The dispute is mentioned between defenders of the newtonianism with the theory of an Earth oblate on the poles and advocates of the cartesianism with the idea that the Earth is prolate on the poles. A note is made on triangulations and degree measurements as a basis for the determination of the shape and size of the Earth in that time and still later. In this connection a mention is made on the birth and history of the International Association of Geodesy and also onthe foundation of the International Union of Geodes and Geophysics in 1919. The explanation then focuses on the contemporary interpretation of the problem. In its solution the tie between geometry, mathematics and physics is mentioned. Úvod je otevřen historickými poznámkami o prvních pokusech určit tvar a rozměr Země. Zmíněny jsou zájem starých Řeků o tyto otázky, jejich úvahy i výsledky. V historickém vývoji je pak zrod geodetické vědy položen do Francie. Citován je spor zastánců newtonianismu s teorií Země zploštělé na pólech a zastánců kartesiansimu s představou, že na pólech je Země protáhlá. Připomenuta jsou triangulační a stupňová měření jako tehdejší a ještě pozdější základ pro určení tvaru a rozměrů Země. V návaznosti jsou připomenuty vznik a historie Mezinárodní asociace geodézie a také pozdější založení Mezinárodní unie geodetické a geofyzikální v roce 1919. Výklad je pak zaměřen na novodobou interpretaci problému. Zmíněny jsou vazby mezi geometrií, matematickou a fyzikoupři jeho řešení. Podtržen je význam řešení úlohy s volnou hranicí formulované pro Laplaceovu (případně Poissonovu) parciální diferenciální rovnici.
