Plan for the IDS Contribution to the ITRF 2020
Štěpánek, Petr

Annotation: The International DORIS Service (IDS) prepares its future contribution to the forthcoming terrestrial reference system ITRF2020. IDS plans to follow on from the previous contributions (ITRF2005, 2008 and 2014) and to take advantage of the system and analysis improvements that have been tested over the last six years. Data from new satellites, not used in ITRF2014 reprocessing, will be included (Saral, Jason-3, Sentinel-3A, Sentine-3B). IDS will also profit from improvements to the DORIS ground network with the installation since 2014 of the 3rd generation of ground antennae (Starec “C”) whose 2 GHz phase center is defined with a precision of 1 mm. The modeling improvements to the HY-2A satellite and better handling of edit criteria for DORIS data have allowed us to generate a consistent time series of the Terrestrial scale. We expect the stability of the scale produced from DORIS data to be comparable with other space geodesy techniques, such as SLR and VLBI. Since the recent analysis confirms an South Atlantic Anomaly signal in the Jason-2 & Jason-3 data, and the ITRF2020 reprocessing will include different strategies to mitigate this effect. For all the seven satellites launched after 2008 the data are available in RINEX/DORIS format, allowing individual analysis centers to process the data closer to the raw measurement. Since the DORIS system is based on satellites in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), the updated processing will include incorporate an updated modeling of the static and time-variable geopotential, compared to what was used in ITRF2014.
